output of MIDI FX, enabling effects for some clips only

Post by danmcb » Tue Aug 02, 2011 11:31 am

Hey all,

Been using Live a few years, mostly as a DAW, just getting into playing with some of the MIDI effects. Awesome package, still discovering new ways to use it :-)

Here's something that comes up. You are playing with a MIDI clip, maybe an arpeggiator and some other stuff after it, so what you are hearing is quite different to what you put in the original clip.

Is there a quick way to see the output of the clip in the step editor so you can figure out what is going on? Or to render the output of the chain to a fresh clip - I guess you could duplicate the track, rout the 1st into the 2nd, and record it, buy that seems kind of long winded.

Also - if (in session view) I have a clip that appears in a few scens, but in some of those scenes I want an effect (like the MIDI Scale one) enabled, others disabled - how can I get that to happen automatically?

thanks

Daniel
