Whats up. Ive been running a low budget set up for too long, basically just a usb from a Yamaha keyboard right into my computer, and I want to upgrade and not rely on my laptop's sound card.
What I want now is an external sound card that can take an XLR, midi input, and has a 1/4" jack. My set up will be: Korg Padkontrol, a Shure SM 58, a midi keyboard and maybe a guitar or bass here or there.
My budget is about $150-200. I've looked at the MAudio Fast track Pro, some Roland stuff, and some Focus Rite gear but I dont know enough about them to make a good decision. I dont need Steely Dan "Aja" quality sound, but just anything that has decent pre-amps and inputs for the XLR, midi, and 1/4".
Any advice on that is much appreciated.

Give the Cakewalk/Edirol UA25-EX a shot. You can find it for around 200USD, and it's got two TRS-1/4" combo ins (one hi-Z), two outs (TRS or RCA), MIDI In/Out, and decent preamps.
I've got one now, but I'm waiting to upgrade to the QuadCapture which is due out in October I think.
