Live 5 still no movie support !!
i would not recommend Resolume for work on the same computer as audio.Hervé wrote:http://www.resolume.com/index.php
it demands to be the foreground app and if its not it throws a tantrum.

Why dont you people against basic video support give those guys that do wish for it a break. I dont need and probably never will need it but if its implemented its no skin off my nose or yours. If its only a syncable video player whats wrong with that.
I remember a large amount of people on this forum agains these features.
Latency compensation
MP3 support
MIDI (amazing, but truei)
Isnt it sometimes a case that people just say no for something to say. If these people were listened to all the time Live wouldnt have progressed much past version 2.

Adding a sync-able movie window to the arrange view for people who want to use Live to do soundtracks would probably not cost too much CPU. But I wonder whether there are many people out there who need this? Once you add that feature, then other *little* features will be asked for ... and the functonality creeps all over the place. Meanwhile the core audio users get pissed off with knowing that ableton are investing non-audio development work ... and perhaps Live is getting bloated and unstable in the process.
As for making Live into a VJ tool that deals with video clips in the same way as it does audio ... forget it, not this decade. It will kill the CPU and stability, not to mention user enthusiasm for what is a great audio tool.

The people who objected to these were morons.
Audio and Video are apples and oranges.
Syncable video window is a tolerable addition for the vast majority of people who don't want it or need it. Big time VJ tools - no thanks.
havent read this entire thread, but my take on this:
video support will be a great feature, extremely useful, that in some future version of live will probably get implemented.
possibly not far off because Live is on its way to becoming a fully featured DAW/digital media platform that could potentially compete with protools as the industry standard.
but - probably not for a least a couple of versions. why? because they are on an advanced development schedule that has a major revision once a year.
there's only so much you can do in a year, and do it well, and imo they are focusing on innovative audio manipulation and live performance over other features that are not thier core focus
so: i predict it will happen, because it is an important, very marketable feature. but be patient

I did actually post the link to DMI's (Doogs) Winamp to VST Bridge that sync's up Movies for PC in a VST window but hey no one paid attention.
And I only posted it 3 days ago and it got bumped back like2.5 pages overnight.
So if any of you want to go the SmartElectronix - DMI and download the Alpha of WinampVST feel free.
I won't bother with the link this time as most of you know who SMEX are .

My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....
You clown 'dj only' types have balked at every feature not geared to your proclivities - which I think at this point have something to do with your thumb and a particular part of your anatomy. Get a life.
No one has asked for any sort of 'full feature' video capabilities I can edit video like I edit audio outside of Live.
All I need to see is a f'in window which locks to Live.
I compose in session view. No other application gives me this non-linear ability.
No one makes an application which will lock to Live without being a 'master'.
IMHO you folks who have ANYTHING negative to post about this are just a bunch of whiney brats living in mommy's basement who wouldn't know how to play an instrument if it was logged in your rather prominent behinds - hey I know why - your thumbs in the way !
I mean, no offense just thinking out loud, typing away without any sense or rhyme or reason, not a clue about the issues... hey just like you all !

i'd like to see video preview window in live.
i didn't think about it 'till one month ago. my friend called me and asked me to do music for commercial for a quite big company (should i mention thay are selling juice
). my first big job...
i got movie files and i had to measure every frame in miliseconds, using quicktime. it was really hard to do it this way. not to mention the embarrassment when producer came to my house to see how the music works with video. i had to do it in cubase at my friends house...
i did the job fine, but i'd really like to do next one all in Live (5?).

the guys from smartelectronix have released this for pc:
VST->Winamp Bridge
A little plugin (two plugins actually) so you can control winamps payback from your VST host. The playback position of your host is sent to winamp so when your press play in Audiomulch, Winamp should start playing. If your transport is at 30 seconds in Audiomulch when you press play, then Winamp should start playing at 30 seconds into the current track. This should be handy if you want to score movies using hosts that don't have built in media players.

Yep, me too. I'm not sure most people understand the problem because the response is often "use ReVision" or "rewire Pro Tools" or similar.loophead wrote:All I need to see is a f'in window which locks to Live.
Has anyone ever made a video window app for the Mac that will run as a Rewire slave? I know Fruity Loops supports video locked to a sequencer and will run as a slave to Live but...it only runs on PC.
