?uestion regarding RE-MAPPING (APC40)

Post by dey_one » Mon Aug 08, 2011 3:33 pm

i've re-mapped my mute/solo buttons to trigger effects from sends. my questions is: HOW DO I to trigger these effects ONLY while the pads are pressed and end when i stop pressing them (as opposed to the toggle default)?

thank you kindly,

You can do a few different things,

1. Buy Max for Live, and learn APC hacks
2. Look into the Native Kontrol stuff.
3. Get Bomes and learn how to use it to translate APC40 commands to Live.
4. Learn python scripting and write your own APC40 Midi Remote script.

I know, it sounds daunting, or costly. I recommend learning python, something like this http://remotescripts.blogspot.com/2010/ ... asses.html

It's free to learn, and once you get the hang of it, you can make the APC40 do everything it cant.

There might be somekind of workaround, by using a midi track to send commands back to the APC40, but i'm not sure it turns toggles to momentary.

I think all the APC40 users should petition AKAI for a full blown editor, capable of incorporating custom Step Sequence maps, Note Modes, and all the other stuff editors come with.

thank you very much for the detailed explanation. as you might assume, i was def looking for a cost-free method to confront this. i would've loved to see AKAI include an editor into Live Suite.

well, i'm on a path now... thanks again.
