Total Newb tracks question

Thanks, now I really don't know which program would be better for me...anyone wanna help me make this decision?

Hey all, looking to get ableton live intro, i know it only has 64 tracks, but say track one is a drum track, can i change the tracks underneath to other instruments and get the programs to play all those tracks at once? I just really need to know this before i purchase bc if I can really own have 8 tracks and all 6 tracks within that column have to be the same instrument and can't be played at once I'm going to be stucks. I really need to know before I spend 100 bones, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for all the help guys, one more question, I don't really like the dj side of ableton I like it where the tracks are horizontal, anyone know of any good tutorials for a new guy?

Another stupid question,but scenes are the vertical tracks correct and tracks are the horizontal? Gah decisions decisions.

That's both right and wrong, it's been decided that perhaps to get folks reading from the same hymn sheet, we might have to label things, but you can call em what you like, I no folks on this site have possibly got some wildly exotic names, There so funny at times.

But seriously, try experimenting with what Live can do, unfold you wings and fly, be free like runing in soft sand very fast, Go man Go !!!.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I ordered ableton live intro last night, once i get more comfortable with the program a controller and an upgrade will come next.
