I need a steady click for our drummers cans.
Because some songs start well before the drummer starts, using the built in click becomes a problem when the four count for the drummer starts 12 bars in. Also, the accent on the built in click/metronome is sometimes a problem.
I have created a midi track and made a four beat click and then duplicated it.
The problem is, in certain songs the click really does fall out of time.
Is the solution to make a quarter note 4/4 beat and record throughout the entire song?
Or have those who have used ableton with one track going out to a drummer's headphones found another simple technique that works without using the built in metronome.
Thanks.

Re: How To Ensure A Steady Click Using A Midi Click
I've been playing w/ a live drummer for almost two years now doing live looping and using backing tracks and never once has the midi track 'fallen out of time'. My guess is that if this is happening on only a few tracks that the tracks themselves are not quantized/warped correctly. I'd start there, not the click.

Thank you - that is the typee of suggestion I was looking for - the word click is used for the general issue - sorry that wasn't clear.
I think Quantizing is an obvious place to start now. Thanks.

Now I know I didn't think of it - I already did it. The recording of the C78 Drum Machine is quantized.
The only other tracks are a couple of midi tracks.
Is there a way of quantizing after completing the midi recording? (Jus to double check.)
I wonder if the scratch vocal tracks not being quantized were causing the problem.

You can select notes and quantize them in the clip view for a MIDI clip. The shortcut is cmd/ctrl+U, but I believe it also comes up on the right-click menu.
