I need to get a new PC on a budget and have been looking at AMD Phenom & AMD Llana (FM1 socket).
My budget for motherboard & processor is approx £250.
I want to make it future proof by having 4 slots DDR3, USB 3.0 & SATA 3.
Also, I want to be able to connect a 32" led tv along with my existing 19" monitor, Live will be on my 32" & NI Maschine + plugins will be on the 19".
I will be using ddr3 2 x 4gb (as high speed as poss depending on motherboard) expandable to 16gb or 32gb in the future.
Not too fussed about graphics just so long as it can handle music production & multi display.
PS, I know intel is supposed to better but I cant afford their prices & and I have never had a problem with AMD anyway.
My current system is windows 7 64 bit on athlon x 2 64 4200+ 2.21ghz, 4x 2gb ddr2 not sure what speed but this is irrelevent because I am going up to ddr3 on a new mobo.
So my main concern is best AMD mobo & processor for £250.
Much appreciated if someone can shed some light on the differences please?
Thanks,
Ronnie
New PC build- AMD Phenom (AM3) or AMD Llana (FM1 socket)?

I recommend a Intel CPU for production. Has better support for multimedia. Thats my recommendation. I dont like to troll AMD!

I'm using an amd phenom 955 and an a asus motherboard. i put my benchmark in the rate your system thread. my system runs live 8 without any problems.

@wehkah
Yeah I know where your coming from. The more I do my research the more Intel keeps popping up.
I thought I could get an AMD same spec cheaper price but it's not as straight forward as that & Intel seem to beat AMD on most benchmarks.
I think I will rethink my cpu & look at intel, from today I have been looking at i5 & i7 but the latter is slightly out of my budget.
Can I get a good i5 that is capable of having dual monitors (19" monitor & 32" led tv)?
I need some help now on intel specs with decent mobo with a few usb 3.0 & sata 3.
Originally looking at £300 max for cpu & mobo that can use my dual display setup for live (dont need it for gaming) or do I get a cheap graphics card that can do dual display within the budget?

If you can don’t skimp on the processor – I’ve been running a poorly build Dell i7 with 8GB of memory but had few problems with Live. Plus the machine has to do everything not just music. Next time I will most likely build my machine as I have done in the past.

I've build me a machine for making sound out of these parts, 1 1/2 year ago. Works very well.
