hi, i have ableton live 8.0.4 and I have started getting this problem. I am unable to play a track, record on a track or hear any midi/vst sounds from ableton and I have no idea why. I have tried re-installing and installing on another hard drive but the error still persists. The cpu bar fails to load as well and it is mightily confusing. I will rule out it being anything other than ableton simply because I have had no hardware or software changes recently and this just started about a week ago.
Help would be most appreciated!

What audio do you have selected in your preferences? Sounds to me like you don't have anything selected, does your CPU meter say 'off'?

no I have asio4all selected and the cpu meter is literally blank. I can't click the record button and when I press the play button nothing happens either. Have tried using direct sound as well but the problem is still there

After checking again I think it may be to do with asio4all as the cpu meter does infact return on directx audio, I will try to reinstall asio4all and see how that goes

was asio4all related, I had to update to the latest version and now it is fixed, cheers for making me recheck!
