Hi,
I recently installed suite 8 and I don't think the library is set out as it should be.
From a book I am using and also the Ableton website both reference a collection of live clip in here:
The Drum Machines Live Packs will also install a collection of Live Clips to the folder "Clips/Drums/Electronic" in your Library, arranged in subfolders for each kit. These can be accessed via one of Live's File Browsers:
I only have a collection of .als files in this folder and none of the same kits they have 808, 707 etc.
I have tried repairing the library but doesn't change. I am pretty sure when I first started using it a week ago they were there - I don't know what has changed.
Also when I go into the Device browser into Instruments>Drum Rack> Kamoni Electronic Kits when I load one of the kits I get a message saying the kit has files missing. I try to locate them but no luck. I am not sure if this is an original part of the Ableton Suite 8.
Any handy hints to sort out my library?
Is there an easy way just to restore it to default library of samples and devices?
Sorry if I am missing something really easy but I have been trying to sort this for about 3 days now!
Thanks
Mike

Re: Installed Suite 8 - Library Corrupt?
Thanks it is the downloaded version I have.
I just cant figure out why my library looks different to the book I have and also the Ableton website.
When I stared with the book I was sure I had the correct files in the correct place but cant be sure.
Was just worried in case I have accidentally deleted some files.
Is there a way to restore the library back to original.

Hi,
Just tried to move the library as you suggest and then restart live - it just comes up that the library does not exist.
When I go into the options to try and repair it the option is greyed out.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Installed Suite 8 - Library Corrupt?
I have tried this and also tried to completely reinstall Ableton and repair the library but it sill comes back with a different library from the screenshots in my book and on the ableton site..
When you look in the following folder do you see this as per the Ableton website.

All I see is a lot of .als files. When i search for the folders as shown on the Ableton menu nothing is returned.
When I go through the device browser I can find the kits.
I have also tried to reinstall the drum machines live packs.
Thanks for the help so far.

Re: Installed Suite 8 - Library Corrupt?
The book is called "live8 and suite8". The picture below is taken form the ableton website.
http://www.ableton.com/pages/downloads/ ... m_machines
I can find the drum machines but cant seem to find any midi files or any other files associated with the drum racks in the library. The drum racks in the devices seem ok but the midi and other files that should be in the folders do not seem ok.
In the folder Library>Clips>Dums I only have 23 .als files and one folder called "Latin Percussion" and one folder called "Electronic".
Seems bizarre I dont have any of the kits in my library - only in the devices..
Thanks
Mike

Re: Installed Suite 8 - Library Corrupt?
Thanks for helping me our here.
In the folder Library>Clips>Drums I dont have 606 strangeway.als I have other .als files but I dont think I have the full selection. I have the 606 strangeway instrument but no associated midi clips. I can load the 606 strangeway drum machine no problem.
Tried reinstalling drum machines and it says they are already installed.
Thanks
Mike
