Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP latency issues

Hi guys,

I'm having latency problems with my new Saffire Pro 24 DSP in combination with Win7 64 and Ableton Live 8 as DAW.

My problem: I want to record my small hardware synth into Live. In order to do that, I have a midi track sending midi data via the Saffire's midi out and record the synth's audio signal in a separate audio track using the Saffire's channel 3+4. When comparing the recorded audio track with the corresponding midi track, you can clearly see that there is a gap between each note of 2 1/2 steps. I don't know how many ms that are...something around 6ms, I guess.

I am using Focusrite MixControl drivers 2.2 at the moment with 44,1 sampling rate, short firewire latency and 128 buffer size as ASIO setting (no dropouts).

...maybe I am doing something totally wrong here, but I doubt there should be the above mentioned latency. With my former PCI audio interface (M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 - few options, but solid rock) worked superb and I've never ever had any latency issue when recording my synth

I spent hours doing research on the web...nothing worked so far. I tried so far:

- switching from the mainboard's firewire chipset to a separate pci firewire card (LaCie Firewire 400 - which is recommended by Focusrite btw)
- switching to legacy firewire drivers as suggested by Focusrite
- doing Win7 audio optimizations (background/programm performance, disabling Win7 desktop theme, disabling all energy saving option, max performance settings applied)
- installing beta drivers 2.31b from focusrite
- disabling all other connected usb-controler as well as midisport interface
- disabling lan card, virus scanner, etc.
- trying different midi cables
- running the DPC latency checker with all green (excellent) results
- trying all possible sampling rate-, FireWire latency- and ASIO buffer size settings
- trying Live's driver latency correction
- messing around with the midi track latency setting
- messing around with MixControl monitor settings
- using my Midisport2x2 interface instead of Saffire's - still latency, so I likely to be an audio latency issue
- updating nvidia GTX460 graphics card drivers

My system is a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 with 6 GB Ram, Asus P5B deluxe mainboard (latest BIOS installed), Win7 64bit with latest updates. I am a registered user of Ableton Live 8 (version 8.2.1 in use). Currently, I am using Focusrite's MixControl 2.2 drivers.

I hope you can help me. Got 2 weeks left to return the Saffire to the shop.
