Make clip take Audacity destruction edit ????

How does one get an audio clip to transform from an edit.

I stopped play back (per the manual) and in the SAMPLE section of the audio clip, I clicked EDIT, which launched Audacity. I edited the clip (chopped some parts off). The Live 8 Manual says to return to Live 8 after the edit and the clip will play with the edit in tact...but it doesn't. Does the Audacity edit need to be saved? If so, where would one save it and call the file?

I don't understand why I can't make the edit in Audacity and return to Live 8 and play it back with the edit in tact...like the manual says. Any ideas?

i tried doing the same and live does nt play the clip back after cropping like you said in audacity

in older versions of live (and apparently this one) you will have to save a copy of the audacity edit

i would save it somewhere in your project folder with a name so you know that its the audacity edited version and to be safe "collect all and save" when closing the set

im not sure how this works with other DAWs being used as the sample editor

but - can crop samples perfectly well without having to use a different DAW

SO I cant just press edit in Live, crop in audacity, quit the program, and the file is edited?

Thanks, before on Windows ,I used wavelab, and it worked seamless for destructive editing with Live, when I hit save in wavelab, the audiofile changes in Live.
