Re: machinedrum 12bit sampling, what does that sound like?
Hi everyone,
I'm interested in the machinedrum. The simple version is far less expensive than the UW. I have the sampler Yamaha TX16W, which is an old 12-bit sampler. I use it mainly as a non-realtime external effect: I sample into it my drum clips made from Ableton Live and drum racks, apply some filters of the TX16W, and resample back the playback of the sampler into Live. In that way, I get the old sound and get the convenience of Live clips.
Will the machinedrum UW bring new features that I have not currently? I plan to sequence the machinedrum with Live. Should I spend several hundred of euros although I already have a 12 bit sampler (but old)?
Thanks.

Yes, the UW version is definitely the one you want, I honestly don't know why they still make the non-UW version.

if you sequence the MD with live, you lose the use of parameter locks where alot of the magic is at

I will check that forum.
Isn't it possible to control the parameter locks with CC messages from the clips? If I sequence the MD with its internal sequencer, can I launch part of the sequence with Live, for example with a midi note?

One of THE coolest things about the Machinedrum is it's sequencer, if you're planning on using Live to control it, you're going to be missing out on 70% of what the MD so damn cool in the first place. Parameters locks cannot be controller by CC's.
But yes, you can trigger patterns with MIDI notes if you want.
