when i add .WAV or .mp3 songs into an audio track, it never plays at the original tempo. is there something i can do besides raising the tempo manually ? or am i doing something incorrectly

Either turn off warping for the clip (partially defeats the purpose of Live) or change the Global Tempo to compensate for how the clip has been warped.

Lastly, I'd highly suggest learning more about warping audio clips via online tutorials (YouTube), and the Ableton Live manual. This way you can make the best of the program's capabilities

thanks.
i've only had it running for five days, and when im not playing with the live 8.2.2, im watching videos about how and things done with the software and apc40....(or an occasional movie, work and sleep)...

i know i need just plain old "seat time" but was wondering if it was due to the ripping of the songs from CDA > .mp3 > .wav that was wrecking it. and hoped for some type of .*filetype that is made for it. the salesman said to use .wav, and i asked about .mp3, and he shrugged, stating something like .wav is better (but not a ryme or reason to be told).

actually, with all the "lessons" and videos i have seen, i know im only scratching the surface.
sofar, ive made some good drum beats, (or tracks) and a few basic things, but thats it...i just learned how to drag over mp3/wav's yesturday.

any tips, or links are appreciated.

It renders mp3 to wav. So you can save yourself the extra processing. Plus sometimes it re-renders again. This can on occasion be unpredictable. If you use any external drives that you use between computers, wav is much safer.

Other than that, keep at it. Best of luck! :)
