Crack noises during recording

Post by reason.cyko » Fri Aug 26, 2011 12:44 pm

Hi all,

I use ableton 8 on a PC duo core with a M-Audio Fast track Ultra and I have two "noise" problems.

First of all every time I plug a mic or guitar into any of the Inputs and click the "prepare track button", I get an awful backgroud noise, quite high pitch, as if some engine was running in the background. However, it seems to get better as I get away from the computer with the guitar and it is not recorded . I thought I would cease with grounding my socket, but it didn't. Any idea?

Secondly and most important, I get very loud random crack noises when the "prepare track" button is red on any audio track. These occur when I click anywhere on the Ableton interface or even when I return to Ableton from another tab in Windows! The problem is they also happen during recording, not necessarily during peaks or anything...
I tried changing the ASIO buffer size in the M-Audio control panel, but nothing works..

I would greatly appreciate any help that you guys could provide.

Cheers,

mic
