M4L demo not appearing ? // fix confirmed in 8.2.6

I've checked ANSWERS and searched the forum. Followed the instructions on Ableton's site and cycling74's. Thrice. and emailed support more than 24 hrs ago (no reply yet). But still I can't get M4L to show up in the Live 8 suite demo.

I'm demoing Live 8 Suite and I already own MAX 5. I've re-installed several times now, rebooted and repaired libraries.
Everytime I start the Live 8 suite demo I'm asked if I want to start the Live 8 suite demo OR the Live 8 suite demo + Max for Live. I choose the max for live option of course. It's not appearing in the devices, nor is it appearing in the preferences/file area (where you can seemingly point live in the direction of the max app)

I'm all out of ideas.

unfortunately i do not really have any idea as i have never tried to get the demo working (i only ever had all of the full versions from the outset).

however, might help (MIGHT!):

a common problem with the full (non demo) versions is that sometimes, due to various of the install ordering factors on the machine in question, content does not automatically load / get updated. your problem might (MIGHT!) be related to this.

to fix:

goto Applications/Max5/support/LivePacks ... and doubleclick the 'MaxForLiveContent.alp'

before doing all of this, perhaps trash the Live AND Max preferences in the usual manner - highly recommended if there have been various install attempts etc.

Thanks for your time pid (more than I've got from the paid tech support)
But I've tried trashing the prefs to no avail. In various combinations (live first, max first etc)
repairing libraries before & after installing the m4lcontent.alp too
disk permissions
etc etc

If I had to guess I'd say it has something to do with the fact I'm demoing the very recently released 8.2.5 ?
Unfortunately without tech support that's all I can do. guess.

I can't demo m4l with 8.2.5 either. Try with 8.2.2 it worked for me.

No.

There are no Max For Live options whatsoever appearing in the preferences/file area. Therefore there is no way to point it to my max application, automatic or otherwise.

FYI I did get a response, after about 50 hrs
But it was unhelpful as it simply suggested I try trashing the prefs and reinstall/reauth.
I responded immediately, and now I'm waiting for a reply since.
I suppose it depends on the query. No point saying "oh, I find techsupport responds quickly" when your request is extraordinarily simple or routine.

To be honest I think we've found the culprit - 8.2.5 , as _pascal.lje_ can confirm he can't demo M4L with 8.2.5 either but can with 8.2.2
efb53 even joined the forum, it seems, just to confirm the same thing, though he didn't specify which suite version he's demoing with.

As far as I'm concerned it does contain the M4L demo license. As I said in the original post I am presented with the option, upon launching Live 8 suite, to demo Live + M4L. Of course maybe you have a point in as much as the license isn't there, despite the fact it should be. again I would say 8.2.5 is the culprit there, and it's the only trial available to download at the moment.

We'll see. I can't find 8.2.2 on their site, even if I could I don't see the sense in demoing it. I'm trying to assess if I will purchase live 8 suite so it makes sense to demo the current version, right ?

So this morning I see Cycling74 have updated Max to 5.1.9
Downloading now.

I see they claim the release date was Aug 23rd. That's a lie, a typo, or perhaps it was released in 'private' ? Because I've redownloaded the installer twice since the 22nd and have been checking their downloads page every day.

Anyway I'm hopeful this is gonna solve the problem.

Unfortunately after downloading, installing, and doing the whole pref trashing/permissions repairing/re-authorizing/etc etc BS all over again I am still in the same situation. No improvement with 5.1.9

I wonder how much of my demo period will be wasted trying to get this to work ?

I was right.
It's 8.2.5 related (on OSX at least. not sure about Win).
Confirmed & reproducable.
Waiting for a fix.
