live 8.1 crashes when loading more than 1 clip simultaniousl

Post by handojin » Fri Mar 12, 2010 3:56 am

for some reason on my setup (below) ableton will hang and crash when i try to load 2 mp3's simultaniously, if one is still analysing and i try to load another before its done it crashes too,, not sure why but been troubleshooting this, tried disabling indexing and doesnt affect ableton behaviour with indexing on or off

setup-
asus b80a laptop
fireface 400 - tested without
novation remote49 sl mk2 tested without
windows 7 64bit- gonna test xp in a bit

gonna test couple things and report back but cheking to see if this is a rare problem or something others have encountered,,
will test out earlier versions, smaller samples, wavs ect, and also try on xp partition and report back to see where it works and where it doesnt
any help greatly appreciated.

new discoveries,
loading wav samples- no problem
just mp3's,

turning off "create index file" in options didnt help
moving temp folder to differnt location/drive didnt help

also tested, ableton starting with and without "run as admin" didnt help
neither did compatibility mode tested with vista sp2 and xp compatibility,, nothing

also tested in v7 and earlier v8.09 same deal

maybe something to do with mp3 decoding algorhythm changed inadvertantly? pretty sure soon as i boot into xp it will just work,,

sorry last addition,, works fine as i thought in xp, so looks like i messed something up with my win7 install,, think there's a problem with the mp3 decoding plugins ableton uses,, maybe it got replaced by something else,,
will try my best to fix this and post details in the next couple days,, if i can fix it in 2 days i guess its rebuild time

hi, i have the same problem, but on 8.2.2, it happens to me also, I just noticed this problem recently, only with mp3-

the problem does not occur when I have just the built in output as my output, when I have aggregate device selected - with 4 outputs - my M-Audio Mobile Pre USB soundcard as Master and Built-in Output as my Cue.

I have a Late 2009 Macbook White - OS X 10.6.8, 2 GB of RAM, but planning to update it to 8GB in a week - I hope it will help..I also have at least 30 GB on my HDD free. My soundcard drivers are the newest...

..does a Mac have some kind of MP3 driver that I can update?
What is the result of your research? did something help? or anybody else has the same problem?
Thanks for replies!!!

funny how thee old threads are still relevant.
i'm having the same problem. although it also happens with video files.
everything is up to date and everything is all fine and dandy.

and as always, it only happens with live.
