Macbook Air
Macbook Air
I have just got the Macbook 11inch, it's only the basic model with i5 and 2 gig of ram, is anyone else using a Macbook Air to run live on? I have just down loaded the demo which I am going to try on some older projects, If I feel it is ok I will ask for Ableton to give me more unlocks, I will post back with my experiences but was wondering if anyone else has tried using an Air.

Re: Macbook Air
So far there are mixed posts on the capabilities of the machine. Early tests showed it as performing worse than a macbook pro that is 2 years old. A later post shows it as doing better. Be good to check out the performance test post and run your computer through the motions. A later better performance could indicate ableton's been properly patched for lion. Be nice to see a few more posts to confirm whether the MBA is worth the investment.
Re: Macbook Air
I've been using Live 8.2 on my Air for about 6 months now and so far it has been working pretty well. I have been using both the internal audio interface and a TC Helicon VoiceLive Touch USB interface without any trouble. It's an older Air (2.12 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3) running Snow Leopard so I imagine yours will probably run a little better. It runs out of puff from time to time but I've just got in the habit now of freezing tracks to get some CPU back, particularly when using MIDI instruments, but I have been working on songs with about 6-8 tracks with two or three effects on each track just fine.

Re: Macbook Air
This is my first post in this forum so hello everybody !
I use a MacBook Air 2008, and i use Ableton live 8, and i've got to say it's becoming horrible when your number of tracks exceeds 6. Everything is slowed down, the CPU usage and the CPU temperature reach real high levels and make Live almost unusable.
But, I heard there is a problem in the ventilation system of the Macbook Air 2008. That's why i'm going to switch for a Macbook pro in september.
