Hi guys. I have a question that has bugged me for a long time. First of all, like indicated I'm using Win7. Secondly I have an SL-MkII and a Launchpad that gets swapped around here and there on my laptop and stationary pc. What happens is that each time I move a device to a different usb port it automatically creates a new device port with a new number. Currently I'm up to 6 on my Launchpad and 4 on my SL-MkII.
This in itself is not a problem. The problem is that the devices are not detected properly the next time I start up Live, and I have to manually change to the correct port number. This can be somewhat clumsy when on the move, although not a huge problem. I guess its possible to just remember what specific port the usb hubs are connected to (on two pc's) and what port on the hub are used by the MkII or Launchpad. This however is a bit cumbersome as well and removes some of the flexibility I like about USB.
Anyhow, if anyone knows how to prevent Win7 (or Automap or whatever) from creating a new port I'd appreciate it greatly. I mean, why create more ports as long as there is only one device connected? In my opinion the port number should be reset and begin at 1 each time a single device is being connected.
