Midi confusion with BFD2

Having Problems triggering individual kit samples from my controllers. I can control palettes and grooves but not individual hits. I have tried using midi learn and info is getting transmitted it is just not doing anything. I feel that I am close because I do have some control. Please help. Peace. :?:
