LFOs in Live

Post by radiato5 » Sat Sep 03, 2011 11:24 pm

I'm using live 8 (and barely learning)....I want to be able to control effects parameters with LFOs. As far as I can tell, Live doesn't itself offer this. If that's right, then is there a simple, cheap plug-in solution? What do you recommend?

Hey mate, you mean for example say you using a delay fx and you want to automate the feedback to 1/4 etc with a sync lfo?.

Yes, that's one thing I want to do. Also want non-sync lfo's, if those have a name.

If it is what you mean then not what i know of some ableton fx have modulation controls on them already, but as for a lfo effect in itself that you can then use as a plug in fx and route to whatever you want i dont think thats possible, if it is someone can put me right.

Anyway if you scroll down this board theres a thread about maschine, one of the dudes called Razorblade posted a link up for something similar to what you are wanting, i havint tried it yet meself so i dont know much about it but looks great and might be what you looking for!.

LFO tool is very mediocre compared to Midishaper, by cableguys:

if you're on OSX, you could also try this freebie:

Obviously you wouldn't waste your time with Max for Live if all you wanted it for was the LFO.

Haven't tried it myself yet, but in the (free( pzMidi / pizMidi pack I see a "midiSimpleLFO" vst that will LFO midi CC's.
So I imagine you'd have to:
1. Midi-map the parameter you want to CC X
2. Drop this VST on a track and manage to get the midi CC's "back" to Ableton somehow, not sure if it'd work.

Edit: Yeah, seems I can't get this to work at all in Ableton, sorry.
