I recently bought Live 4.0.
I have installed it on my desktop computer for now. I unlocked it just over the weekend, so I am eligible for the free 5.0 upgrade when that comes.
Here is my question:
I am about to purchase a new laptop computer for Live. When I receive that laptop, I obviously want to install Live and unlock it. Since Live allows me to use 2 computers with the software, I should have no problem doing this.
Unfortunately, I have learned that the laptop I want to purchase will not be released for market until August. But I have a gig planned to play in July.
Since I will not have my new laptop by July, I will need to install Live on my current laptop so I can play the gig. But this will use up my second unlock code.
Can I install Live on my current laptop today and unlock it.... then uninstall it when my new laptop arrives in August? I know that my unlock code will not work, and I will need to send an e-mail to Ableton to request a new code....
But is Ableton likely to be sympathetic to my request? I would hope so.... because I only plan to have Live installed on 2 computers at any time, and only using 1 at a time.... but I will have a new comp so soon.... I don't want to have to pay for another license.
Anyone had to move their Live license to another computer, and know if Ableton is likely to allow this?
Thanks.

you can unlock ableton as many times as you want to on 1 computer. uninstall it unlock it uninstall it unlock it. because you will be using the same authorization code every single time. when putting it on the second computer is when you use the second authorization. you only get 2 of those. that doesn't mean only 2 unlocks, just 2 codes for 2 computers.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

Finally I understood how it works.
Thanks Johnisfaster.
