Zoning my controllers like Launchpad

Post by Florian95 » Wed Sep 07, 2011 4:37 pm

Hello,

I have a launchpad and a Evolution UC33e.

With Launchpad, I have a red box arround my box to tigger them, and modify levels (Volume, Sends)... Its really awesome, with a 8 columns, I can control all my tracks....

How can I make the same effect with my Uc33e ? I can custom my configuration ? And this is "auto-map" faders on volumes levels....

Thank you a lot !

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=evolution.live

it looks like they suggest setting it up on multiple midi channels, don't know if there's a better way, but you could manually map each channel to the next block of tracks using midi learn, leaving the far right fader mapped to the master track, and save the whole thing as a live template and just open up that template whenever you start a new song. I imagine someone could offer a better solution, but this could work in the meantime. You could also probably work something out with customizing the presets in Enigma (M-audio's free controller customizing software)but honestly I've found it to be more trouble than I care to deal with. Better to just set up Live so it launches with a set that has all your preferred mappings in place.

I try with a default template, but Its not the better way... When you create a new track in the middle, you have to re-map all controls...

I search an automatic solution, like Launchpad :)

Thank you!

I know it could be done with remote scripting, as I'm using a similar setup, but with a Nanokontrol for a mixer instead of the UC33e. I found a script online that maps everything in the first two "scenes" to the first 16 channels with a default master fader, and a third scene that allows for device navigation and scene launch. You could poke around the internet to see if anyone's done a similar script for your unit.

Can you link your script ? I can adapt it for the uc.

if you think you can adapt it, the one I use is this one

I don't know how well the whole thing will translate, as I know basically nothing about scripting, but if you can figure it out, good for you!
