.mp3 converters?!

Post by garyd7 » Sun Sep 11, 2011 5:09 pm

What program do you guys use to convert .wav to .mp3?

I've been using NCH Switch or something like that (since it was the first free one I could find) and it seems to take away some of the high end of the music... is this just a universal thing that happens during conversion to .mp3 or is it down to the converter?

Thanks,
Gary

Mac or Windows?

I use Max on a Mac. http://sbooth.org/Max/

But also iTunes on either platform.

Also your Sample Editor of choice would work. I use Twisted Wave on Mac.

As for high end difference, it depends really on what bitrate you are converting to. A 320k mp3 will definitely have a different high end than a 192k for example.

On mac I use all2mp3. Havnt had many problems. Sometimes a setting of "super" conversion results in a bad sounding file, not sure why, but I just click "good". The quickest way ive found to bounce ableton wavs to mp3 if im dropboxing them or emailing.

Media Monkey is pretty awesome
Computer games don't effect kids... If Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music
