Isn't Mach 5 a sampler?

Well it's a strange way to start the conversation about Mach 5, but yeah, it looks really really good.
iLock, though considering I'm already using a USB hub in my live set up that's not a deal killer.

I would say this is more possibly a Suite/Komplete killer than something to compete with Live.
Having recently fallen out of love with NI and not that into Suite, this might be my next purchase.
Brutally expensive without a competing sampler, and I'm not sure Sampler qualifies? Someone would have to call.
I own Kontact so I qualify.

I really really really like the modular synth/sampler/filter bank with convolution reverb concept of this.

I think MachFive 3 could destroy Kontakt, by the looks of it.

User interface looks really slick and intuitive. Feature set is immense: built in synth modules and that beautiful sounding granular engine - what I've wanted in Kontakt for ages. And the instruments sound amazing. Plus all the scripting, of course. And millions of FX....

Wish I had a powerful enough computer, a load of spare cash and less dongle-hatred.

they actually put ableton live (not sampler) as eligible for a crossgrade :)

they also put IK SampleTank, which you can register for free (unless you have to have the XL edition... doesn't specify).

IMO nothing really "competes" with Ableton as a core DAW w/out something similar to session view, at least not for my $$. Call me a fanboy, I could never go back to trying to compose in Reason.

Nice specs, butt-ugly interface.

Looks like it wants to be a cross between Kontakt and Omnisphere...

That is really an impressive looking app. Seems like they are shooting squarely at Omnisphere. If it weren't for the dongle I might have given it serious consideration.

Ya. Which is great. I hate hearing people gush about Omnisphere.

yeah he dongle is a PITA, but too many great pieces of software have them. Plus honestly my hatred went away once I realized I'm going to end up with a USB hub anyway. I have four controllers attached by default, add in a mouse and my three ports aren't enough. Fuck? add in the MOTU midi interface and USB hard drives and it gets ridiculous!

Do USB harddrives operate efficiently through hubs?
