Sound Quality Issue when Exporting Audio
Sound Quality Issue when Exporting Audio
Hi all,
Sorry to post about this topic again, but I'm having trouble with Live's exported audio...
It's a strange situation and I cannot figure out where I'm doing wrong..
I have an track that I had exported to wav (sample rate 96000, Bit Depth 24 and Dither Triangular) that sound very bad in the synth's track. I tried all options in the export window and all have problems. The sound inside Live is OK.
To make an test I created an Audio track, set the input to "Resample", output to "Sends Only", monitor to "IN", armed the track, hit record and played the track from the beginning, then I open the aif file created for the clip by Live and to my surprise the audio was OK, the same as inside Live, but very different to the exported wav.
I uploaded the 2 tracks, the exported and the resampled to see if someone can help me understand why this difference and why the exported sounds bad only with the synth tracks...
Well, the synths start in 0:25 in each track, listen and see the difference...

The Resampled http://soundcloud.com/bigeyes/dubstepwave-resampled
Thanks in advance

Re: Sound Quality Issue when Exporting Audio
What synth are you using? Does that synth have resample mode for export? Have you suspect the synth itself?

Re: Sound Quality Issue when Exporting Audio
Why are you dithering when exporting to 24 bit?
There is definitely a difference in stereo width and clarity between the two files.
I've got to walk my dog and I'll try to come up with something a bit more constructive in the next hour or so.

The synth is zebra2, but in a complex rack. I never had a problem with zebra. I can try change the synth, any idea?pencilrocket wrote:What synth are you using? Does that synth have resample mode for export? Have you suspect the synth itself?

I tried exporting without dithering, small difference but bad results too...socialjusticeman wrote:Why are you dithering when exporting to 24 bit?

Re: Sound Quality Issue when Exporting Audio
Are yr tracks, 'specially Zebra, frozen?
I'd say freeze + flatten, I would think Live would have an easier time bouncing. Think about it, if it sounds fine with resample, it would sound the same flattened. Just be sure to switch the warp mode to repitch after you flatten everything (or maybe just yr synths) provided there are no tempo sways in the arrangement.

I did the test, frozen tracks sound better, you are right. But it's a time consuming do it always that you want to export you audio.phonographiq wrote:Are yr tracks, 'specially Zebra, frozen?

Is it not just as time consuming to freeze a track (essentially rendering a wav) as it is to export the same track?rsaulo wrote:I did the test, frozen tracks sound better, you are right. Yes, but I want to export the entire song, so I need to freeze every track and after export the entire song.cotdagoo wrote:Is it not just as time consuming to freeze a track (essentially rendering a wav) as it is to export the same track?rsaulo wrote:I did the test, frozen tracks sound better, you are right. Very time consuming
Any idea?
Re: Sound Quality Issue when Exporting Audio
no time consuming matter when it's for good man
I would say you simply have to freeze the problematic track(s) only and no flatten.
Rather select the content of the track then drag and drop the frozen clips in a new audio track [same as flatten without loosing your midi track, if further edit has to be done]
just my two cents,
best luck to you

I was just complaing that the "original" export function should work as expected.
Tks
Re: Sound Quality Issue when Exporting Audio
See this thread - maybe you have found the same thing or some variation of a related underlying problem.
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... 06&start=0
If the cause is what I think it is - I doubt if we will see a fix anytime soon - maybe in L9 if the audio enegine gets some major reworking to avoid the problem entirely.
However it could easily be a non-real-time render issue with a plugin as well - suggest you read the thread and see if the circumstances apply.

Nothing to see here - move along!
