Record MIDI in a weird way

I put one of Live 8's instruments into a MIDI track. I get the MIDI "piano roll" style editor up on screen. I add a note. Then I left click on the note, and while holding the mouse key down I drag the note up and down at speed. The sound I hear is like running your finger up and down a piano keyboard. Can I record this mouse created music? If so, how?

Create a new MIDI Channel. Set Input to the channel of the clip you are playing around on. The new channel should receive your notes.
