One-shot samples

Post by alex1fly » Mon Sep 19, 2011 7:58 am

I recently got some one-shot samples of a pipe organ. The sounds are quite short. How can I make these sounds longer, so that the organ sounds sustain like a real organ?

Within Ableton Live 8

Much thanks!

Import the sample into a simpler or sampler and then set your sustain time to max if the note is short, go to the set loop start and fade section set the loop to start where you want the sound to play from either by manually using the locaters on the timeline or by turning the start knob, then to make sure it dosent start with any dodgy harmonics or clicking click on snap that will remove any clicking or tiny harmonics that can be heard when pressing play first time, then press loop to looop your sample, and then when the release is set to long it will take however long you want it to die out, BUT it wont sound natural all its doing is repeating the end in loops, for real streching of the samples i use Alchemy for this it can strech to 500 size of the sample but tven then you lose alot of dynamics of the sound too, its never perfect, the real best thing is get as near as you can with your source sample so you wouldnt need to do it, easier said i know :|
