and just what do these itunes ids allow you to do, I take it it doesn't make the music sound any better?
I don't believe you can upgrade another computer to Lion from a disk for a newer computer that has Lion, but upgrading your older Mac to Lion is cheaper than getting a superdrive and you'll get a lot more use out of Lion. I got my drive and used it for about a half hour of installing music software and then never again.

Authorizing your Apple ID is what lets you make purchases through iTunes on that computer and will also be linked to iCloud and Match. Also what I mainly needed it for is it will allow you to drag and drop media from iTunes on one computer to iTunes on another (with the same ID). So if I have tracks sitting on my main computer and I want them on my Traktor computer I turn on home share in iTunes, open my main computer library in iTunes on my Traktor computer and just drag the songs into my library. No need for external drive transfers or burning CDs.

If you have home share turned on you can stream music from any computer's iTunes library regardless of ID but if they don't have the same ID then you can't download tracks from one library to the other. My roommate and I use this for our epic music listening/sharing nights. We have streaming access to all our libraries on all our computers....his computer is his room and my main computer in my room both being streamed to the Mini in the living room. Tits!

That is so unbelievably retarded and yet another example of how assinine Apple policies can be.

But most people don’t buy new Macs as ravenously as I do. But on the other hand you may have families where you’ve got 3 or 4 computers running off the same Apple ID, lord help the credit card holder on that account.

And at least Apple gives you an option to kill the authorization on every computer with a single click which works great for my situation where I can’t find an old computer or for passive/aggressive card holders who can quickly and indirectly say “That does it! You’re all cutoff!” to their family members. Stock up on food in your man den, wall yourself in, hit the deauthorize all button, and then change the password. Brutal but effective.

On the iPhone App Store app under updates there's also a link to purchased apps so you can reinstall apps you've already purchased. I'm not seeing that on the iPad. :x

In other news Tim Cook is going to BRING IT Oct. 4th. Although there will be comparisons to Steve I have no doubt Tim will nail it with his own brand of salesmanship. :x

Which pretty much amounts to all the excitement of a cola salesman pitching a new line of caffeine free beverages to a room full of supermarket owners.

We’ll see. Maybe it will be like The King’s Speech and somebody has been schooling him on how to BRING IT. I picture Jobs sitting in a recliner with a bull whip in Tim’s office yelling “NO! SELL ME!” while Tim bobs and weaves.

And let’s face it. What made Steve’s keynotes so great was the legend of “I invent/control everything!” Steve and the greatness of Apple’s products. He had a very cool and calm delivery. If you listened to a keynote without the video the only excitement you would get would be people in the audience losing their shit over some graphic in the background.

One thing I utterly HATE about Apple fanboy blog sites is speculation reports of unreleased Apple hardware based on pictures of cases, individual components, and chain store inventory database screen shots.

“The bevel on this case is .065 millimeters different from existing cases. iPad 3 being released soon!?”

“Here’s a micro camera lens attached to nothing. Perhaps it’s a 34 megapixel camera for the iPhone 5!!”

“Notice the product number next to the iPhone entry at Best Buy. It clearly says 4564728937469-94893. Our inside source says the 12th digit for iPhones is always a “2”. Looks like we’ll see an iPhone 4S sooner than later!”

FUCK ALL THAT.

You realize don't you that ENTIRE BOOKS have been written about the Steve Job's presentation style, and that universities actually include a primer on the subject in any class that involved public speaking?

I've got a family member who just finished their first year of law school and, I shit you not, they had to watch several keynotes to learn how the MASTER captivates an audience.

Still waiting on the Google/Microsoft equivalent of that and the dozen other books just like it.

I'm patient.

"Updated to include Steve Jobs's iPad and iPad2 launch presentations"

It'd be a total win if he got Madden to do a play-by-play with the white marker diagrams.

LSZ just schooled me on people getting schooled on Steve. :x

Somebody needs to pen the book The Jobs Market so Apple haters can get pissed off when they buy it and discover it’s about Steve and not the economy. :P
