Audio disabled in Abbelton Live

Post by thunderdrummer » Tue Sep 20, 2011 10:33 pm

I recently experienced a problem with Abbelton Live. Whenever, i load the program, i get a message that says "audio is disabled, please choose a output device in the preferences menu". I saw my audio device in the drop down menu. When i selected my audio device, i got another message that said the audio device could not be opened. I tried re-installing the program, and this did not work. Does anyone have a possible solution?

What OS are you using - OSX or Windows. What soundcard do you have? Are there any other applications using audio (Skype, Windows Media Player, etc...)?

I am using Windows 7 home premium 64-bit with service pack 1. I have a Realtek High Defenition sound card installed.

What does the "driver type" show in the audio panel?

The driver type shows "ASIO". This is the same type i use in Pro Tools LE 8.5. Now it seems my Alesis Q-25 MIDI keyboard is not communicating with Ableton at all. What should i try now?

I would run MSCONFIG and do a selective startup, then reboot - stop any programs taking control of the audio device.

It can be anything from MSN Messenger to Skype grabbing the audio.

Are you using ASIO4ALL? Are any of the devices "unavailable" there?

Maybe try disabling "Exclusive Mode? too?
