so dont be scared that dj rollpills is going to be taking your residency anytime soon, or getting that coveted opening timeslot for john digweed at the next big event in your town. promoters only book people that have good resumes and good reputations, its like adamjay said, all the big jocks are either
a. really good producers
b. have been djing for 20+ years
c. have nice tits
so pick one of the above options and stick to it.
the influx of people trading in their guitars for turntables, or in this case, ibooks, is nothing new people. but dont treat every noobie like they are going to be the next dj rollpills either. they might be the one that learns the program better than you and can teach YOU some cool new tricks.

Heh...I bought my turntables from a guitarist who thought he could buy turntables and a $30 gemini mixer and make enough money to support his habbits...one of them was the guitar, the other one is the reason the coffin that came with the set smells like burnt rubber.

the fact that you had to warp tracks, have some understnding of song structure mean that the system was'nt doing evrything for you. Maybe this is a good thing. I guess when i get my copy of 5 i will find out

It will be fantastic with LIVE5 and whatever comes after that. (Until the copyright issues will pop up and the record industry will start to cash licenses for using samples, 8-bar-loops or whatever you want to do when you DJ).
And regarding the turntablists: They might be considered and appreciated as instrumentalists in the future.
It's like people did not stop to listen to piano-players when midi-sequencing was invented, only you did not have to rehearse 10 years to play a 16th's tripletts arpeggio.
