I want to cross-fade between two chains in an Instrument Rack keeping the volume constant, similar to how the master crossfade works.
There is a quiet spot if I put a Utility in each chain and map the gains to a Macro (with one chain inverted).
Can anyone please suggest how I can get a cross-fade in an Instrument rack?
With my current setup, the Macro is attached to the Utility Gains in the first and second chains and the ranges are -35dB to 0dB, and 0dB to -35dB in chains one and two respectively.
Turned right I get 0dbB in the first Chain and -35dB in the second Chain.
Turned left I get -35dB in the first and 0dB in the second.
Mid-position I get -17.5 dB in first and second. i.e. -20.5Db for the combined volume.
I notice that the Auto-Pan has the right kind of curves, but it doesn't do what I want as I need automation for the crossfading.
I have several Instrument racks and need independent crossfade, that's why I can't use the Master cross-fade.
Thanks for any help.

This is how do do a crossfade by using the chainselector, I can't tell if it will keep the db at the same level though.-

Thanks, worked a treat.
I made a minor modification putting the upper section of the zone from 0 to 56 and the lower from 72 to 127. This seemed to give a more even volume across the range.
