hi, I have a three questions about tap tempo.
1 -The first is how do i get to use my computer keyboard (acting as my midi) as a way to hit tap tempo being that it is finicky and more easily done if can hit the keyboard instead of the mouse button.
2- If im on a 4/4 beat (numerator/denominator) it says to hit the button 4 times. Does that incluse the first activating click?
3- If I have a beat that is irregular, can I tap irregularly, or do I have to tap at a consistant pace in order for it to get accurate results?
Thanks, Mad
tap tempo with keyboard or midi
Re: tap tempo with keyboard or midi
Hi happy tony,
1- On the upper right corner of live, you'll find a small keyboard icon, click it, then you'll be able to play notes through the computer keyboard. Next to it there is a 'key' button, while enabled it shows you the keyboard affectations in orange, select your 'tap' button, and press the key you want it to be assigned to (i.e: the A key), just make sure it is not already assigned to another parameter.
2- Ever since you hit the button it counts as one beat, there is no such thing as an activation click as far as i know.
3- if you accelerate, or slow down while tapping, the tempo value will immediately adjust to the pace, if your beat is irregular you can warp it, to make it regular, and then automate the tempo if it's the way you want it to be... there is plenty of other possibilities though.
Feel free to read the printed manual if you have it, it's well written, quite clear, and by far the most valuable help you could find.
Hope this helped, sorry if any mistakes.
