Amazon is poised to kick some ass. Premium products at a non-premium price. That will resonate with many wallets.LoopStationZebra wrote:Steve Jobs at an Apple event is still about 1000X more exciting than Bezos announcing the new Kindle Fire.

Jebus, that's horrifying.
You can even hear the sound of the door in the auditorium closing as the last person leaves the event halfway through.
I could see me getting the Kindle Touch 3G. It would sit there nicely in my backpack alongside my iPad 2. The iPad 2 will be there for malignant content consumption, the Kindle Touch 3G for actual reading and learning.
The Fire? Not for me. I've already got an iPad and I'm happy with it. I'm sure Apple will lose many iPad sales to it, but the company that should really be sweating is Google. They've got to worry about building Creme Puff Sandwich, competing endlessly with their own product, and now they're going to have to compete in a hardware market by manufacturing Motoroogle tablets that hit the shelves with negative margin. Every tablet sold will eat $50 of captial... that is, if they can manage to sell any at all.
I agree about the Kindle Touch and meh on the Fire. Weight and e-ink give the Touch the advantage. But unlike my Apple purchases where I think I can buy with confidence based purely on internet buzz and pictures, I think before I buy a Kindle model I’m going to hoof it down to a Best Buy/Target/Frys and actually touch the damn things before I make a decision.
And I’m sure they will cut a little into iPad sales but I think they’ll cut way more into competitor tablet sales.
Some manufacturing genius already determined Amazon is selling their new Kindle models at a loss, but they should by far make up for it in content sales.

Re: iPad
Gizmodo is doing a live blog as well, but they're doing a Mystery Science Theater 3000 thing where they're making fun of what's being said.
shocking.
Oh, Engadget is doing the best coverage so far...switching now.

Using live blog streaming of the keynote at work is horrid. Every time I step away and come back I have to scroll to find the last thing I read and then the live feed keeps bumping where I'm at off the page with updates.

Love how Siri isn't available in Spanish at launch. Cause all know the vast majority of Spanish speaking people are too poor to buy anything by Apple "and here's an infographic to back that up".
