Sample Offline

I did a DJ set last weekend on my laptop. I used about 50 songs. I copied the files on to my desktop and the set mostly worked. 70%-80% of the tracks are fine. However, some samples say "Sample Offline". So I tried deleting the clips and drags the files back in to the clip, but it still just says "Sample Offline". Why would that be? How can I correct my set? I need it for this Friday.

Actually. Now, when I try to drag the file in it says "The file may be corrupt or not licensed". But I just bought it fair and square on iTunes recently. Some I converted from iTunes format to MP3 but I did it all inside iTunes. How can I tell if a file is licensed or not? All these files play fine in Media Player.

WTF?

I opened up the set and now everything is fine. WTF?

Can someone tell me what is going on? Last week when I was DJ'ing I was trying to drag clips in and it was saying "The file may be corrupt or not licensed". What does this mean and how can I avoid it?

Bump. I really need to know what is going on here. There are heaps of files I can't drag in to Ableton. Why?

Why are there heaps of files that say "Sample Offline"?

I dont know man, But the same thing is happening to me. Out of easily one hundred MP3s only 3 work. I purchased my tracks from Beatport. The songs work fine on my desktop, which is running the same version of live. but my laptop wont read them. Im going to do some digging, if I find something I will let you know.

Thanks for your post man. This is @#$#ing ridiculous.

If it helps at all, I have found that sometimes, when I export the songs from the original MP3 file using Audacity and Lame, I can get it to drag in to Ableton. But other times, it just doens't work at all.

I got the answer man!! The good folks at ableton support hooked me up.

You have to install Apple quicktime player. I just did it and all my tracks work now. I hope this helps you. later

Ah. Thanks man. That would explain some problems like not being able to load M4A files. But, that doesn't explain why MP3s etc. don't load. Anyway, I'll install that before I perform that set again. Thanks.
