Automation Issues

What's going on here? I created automation for a sample in a MIDI clip modifying the decay time of the global volume over time, but then I made an adjustment to the sustain (not through automation, simply through the sampler). Now the automation is not being performed, and the section for decay time is gray in the automation box. Help!

I think you need to click "Back to arrangement" which I think will be red and to the right of "OVR" up the top. Hope that helps.
