Just curious, is there a way to create midi-editors for hardware synths in Max for live? I'm assuming based on the midi cc's that show up in Live's midi clips I can assign a knob/button to them in Max?

My first and only try at m4l was exactly that... so the answer to your question is yes!

sending cc's out is pretty easy - Ableton filters SYSEX which is a pity

easy for modern synths, impossible for anything using sysex as ableton stupidly filters them all on input and output,
