merging tracks

Post by Muzik 4 Machines » Mon Oct 10, 2011 2:39 am

like in logic if you put 2 midi tracks on top of one another and use the glue tool, it merges the notes
in live it just deletes the back track, is there a way to merge?

i have drums on 11 tracks (1 track per note) and i want to merge them in 1 track, and for the life of me, i cant find a way to do it n arrange or session, and since they decided to NOT allow midi export of the whole arrange (clip by clip is totally ridiculous IMOHO) to do it in logic, i'm fckud

and doing it by hand is out of question, i have 256 drum tracks like this, im not reprogramming all of them(especially not in live where the 1 window for everything prevents form having 2 piano rolls open like in EVERY other daw snce 1929

I've never found a better way than this (in Live):

consolidate each of the 11 tracks so that the MIDI clips are the same length on all tracks and start at the same point.

click on clip 1 and bring up the piano roll. click on the loop bar at the top of the piano roll (selects the whole time span of that clip), then hit CMD-C. click on clip 2 and again click on the loop bar atop the piano roll. CMD-V pastes the notes from the first clip into the second. Now repeat to go from clip 2 to clip 3 etc. Kinda clunky but I don't know of a better way unfortunately...
