I've spent about 2 hours now trying to make one simple loop from Gavin Degraws "Soldier". I'm trying to loop the intro which is just a melodic voice over piano chords ringing out. I chose this loop because it was mostly just vocals and I wanted to just practice getting the hang of making beats under loops so i can start remixing songs. Anyhow, Live "thinks" the beat is about 145bmp, I checked and got around 140, so we're probably both close. But then I decided to take "warp" off and just do a tap tempo. That solved everything. The metronome was now on with the loop, the kick drums I added were on as well. But then I went back to hit warp and it messed it up again. I tried deleting all the warp markers except the first one and that didn't help either.
Any ideas???
Also--while we're on the topic, lets say I want to make the 1st four bars of the song a loop and forget the rest of the song, how can i delete the excess waveform and just use the loop i made??

Re: Metronome not matched with warped loop
If tap tempo was working, you can delete the extra warp markers and then type in the tempo for the remaining one.
What I usually do is warp the part with beats, the first beat being 1.1.1 and then add markers to the intro after I have that down. Then you can change the Start, End, and Loop settings to suit
To save just that part, I Think you can drag it to arrangement view, size it out to what you prefer. MAKE SURE that it sounds as clean as possible at the tempo you save it as, and then right click, consolidate. I'm sure ther is an easier way, I don't do it much. After it is consolidated, drag into the browser.

Re: Metronome not matched with warped loop
I tried that, and I even made the global tempo the same as the tempo the warp machine guessed it was at. Are you saying I can type in the tempo for the clip? Or just the global tempo of the live set. What exactly do the markers represent? Are they for the downbeats/ accents?
I also wasn't able to drag the loop from the sample editor to the arrangement OR session view...

Re: Metronome not matched with warped loop
When looking at the clips waveform, you should see two markers in the top corners to make the song smaller from the intro, or from the ending. It almost looks like the looping markers, but just above them.
- Adjust those markers so that it looks like it's looping only the portion that you actually want.
- Right click within your selected portion and hit "Crop Sample".
At least, that's how I do it not sure if this is the norm
