Trigger individiual clip in time with the rest of the scene?

Post by Dalfir » Fri Oct 14, 2011 6:37 pm

I've been fooling around with the Tom Cosm project files. His workflow is basically bouncing tracks down to stems and chopping them up into loops in Session View. With each song, he includes one scene (normally called Straight Through) which are all the stems set to play from start to finish (in essence, the whole song playing from beginning to end.)

I'm wondering if I can do this in Live.

Let's say I start by triggering the Straight Through clip, then 16 bars into the song, I want to change things up by triggering a denser loop from the Percussion stem. So I let this new loop play and tweak it around for another 16 bars but then I want to drop back into the clip from the Straight Through scene (that I started the song with) but I don't want it to play from the beginning, I want it to start at the same point (32 bars into the session) as all the other clips in the scene.

Is this possible? Or if I deviate from that Straight Through clip is there no way of triggering it again without it starting from the beginning? I know that I could just adjust the Start flag of that clip, but that could start getting tricky when I want things to quickly revert to their original arrangement.

Any advice is much appreciated. :D

I feel like you should be able to make that work using Legato, but you'll have to play around with the settings to figure out a workflow that will get you what you need
