Global macro controls, is it possible?

Post by supermows » Sat Jun 19, 2010 12:04 pm

Hi guys, first of all, sorry if i post this in the wrong place...

I would like to set a macro controil in which you can assign parameters from different plugins located in different tracks... is that possible in that way?

I would like to assign them to my knobs in apc40, so i can see what i'm tweaking in the screen...

The most similar thing i've found is Clip mapper from Covert Operators:

http://www.thecovertoperators.org/Max/M ... lip-mapper

Th thing is that it works with m4l...

Thanks for your help!

Ah, I went on this quest myself not so long ago, in short no there isnt a way to use a macro to control different parameters in different tracks inside ableton.

However what you can do is to build your sets slightly different and take advantage of the instrument rack. to stack up instruments and assign macros to instruments further down the chain?

Although depending on what your doing this might not be possible...

Necrobump

Does anybody know of any global macro devices in Max for Live?

It would be awesome to be able to assign the controls for multiple MIDI Pitch effects to a single global control on the Master track and adjust them all from that single device accordingly

I believe someone (possibly Covert Operators?) have a few Macro devices already - would those work for device parameters on multiple other tracks?

You know I think Macrobat from NativeKontrol might be able to do this...

3/26/2011 - v1.0.3

Except where noted, Macrobat Racks can now exist on any Track including the Master Track.
The Receiver Rack can now control Senders on other Tracks.
The 0db Volume option was removed from the Track Rack.
If you’re using Live 8.2.2 or later, Macrobat Racks can be nested inside of other Racks.

Ableton should introduce a special macro that enables any macro on any track in a group to be mapped to a set of 8 macros on the Group Track

that link is dead.. here is a fresh link to Clyphx

super awesome Highly recommend it even if you have max4live.
Macrobats allows you to make rack macros send midi so you can control multiple racks on different tracks from one.. super handy.
this allows me to keep track separations for FOH but have 1 point of global control for my filter and other effects.

plus the ability to put commands in clips.. like move your red box automatically when you fire off a clip to cue up the next 5 scenes.
(i'm sure their is like 30 threads of me recommending clyphx lol cause it's freaking awesome! :P)

another necrobump

i've been messing with macrobat for a couple of hours. i'm trying to do the same thing -- i want one knob on my controller to be the "control all reverb macros on all of my tracks" knob so its easy to "reset" when playing live... haven't gotten it figured out yet...

i figured a way to do it with M4L via "Sixteen Macros" from Covert Operators... its old and not as updated though, hopefully doesn't crash my set
