Hey folks, a beginner here reporting in.
How can I map a drum kit (or any other) sound to the MPK mini? I'm on my third day with the keyboard, and despite knowing how to map the knobs and so forth, I'm clueless about this one.
Let's assume that I'm using two different instrument layers; an 808 drum kick and analog. I want to drop the kick using Pad 1 on the MPK Mini and have the keys restricted for some analog twiddling, but I can't do this because Live doesn't offer an option to map the kick sound to any button on the keyboard! I have to have the drum kick layer activated if I wish to drop it. This is annoying because it doesn't allow me to fully focus on the keyboard.
I've not installed the software that came with the keyboard as it was somewhat of a troublemaker and Live seems to function properly without it.
Here's my setup:
AKAI MPK Mini
Live 8.1.1
Windows 7
Any help is appreciated, cheers.

Bump, anyone?

There's no real easy way to do that. The best i could offer is see if you can hard midi map the drum pads on the Akai to the 808 drum rack pads. Otherwise, it's just the way midi controllers work with Live.

Can you elaborate what hard mapping means, please? Other than that I think I'm getting the drift, thanks.Tarekith wrote:There's no real easy way to do that.
