Same with Filtatron. It looks like it fluctuated betwee 5-8$, but I think because of iOS5 crashs they made it .99:)

I love how much criticism the iPhone4s got from all the tech press and bloggers immediately after the unveiling.
I also love how sales of the iPhone4s have SHATTERED every single Apple record to date.

Either way, this Moog app is the BOMB. Seriously, I've got a lot of musicmaking apps on my iPad, but this one sits WAY up top.

Re: iPad
I bought that camera kit adapter thing to try MIDI on my iPad about 18 years ago. It wasn’t until last night that I plugged it into my iPad 2 to fuck around with the Moog app.
First thing I noticed between the bevel on the back and my relatively thin rubberized back case it wouldn’t go in all the way. Even if I took the case off (which is a chore) I still don’t think it would fit in snuggly because of the bevel.
Even given that, I stupidly attempted to connect my MIDI keyboard but I got nothing, either because the adaptor wouldn’t go in all the way or the more obvious reason that my MIDI keyboard is USB powered and I highly doubt the iPad tosses juice at it.
THAT WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF 45 SECONDS OF MY LIFE.

It'll give some juice, but not that much. Here's a list of keyboards that will work with the CCK:
http://iosmidi.com/devices/
If it won't work due to lack of power, you almost always get a message on the iPad telling you so.

Hm. After reading that I need to either get a power adaptor for my keyboard (oxygen 61, or maybe it's a 49, fuck) or the camera adaptor is indeed not fully connecting. Either way I'm
Playing keys on a touch screen is ass. Doing the rest on the touch screen I can handle.
Only thing I don't really like about the Moog app is the long list of presets in no particular order or categories. Have they learned nothing from NI's browser and tagging awesomeness?!?
Re: iPad
After my nightmarish but brief attempt with trying MIDI with my iPad and the camera kit the other night I was thinking maybe that Alesis io dock or Akai keyboard dock might be a better solution. Has anybody tried either or both of these and if so are they on par with just plugging in a traditional hardware keyboard as far as MIDI and audio is concerned?
As an Apple occultist I find it best to try expensive simple solutions whenever possible instead of cheap but complicated solutions.
Along these lines I would also be tempted to buy a refurbished first gen iPad on the cheap to just use for music but it probably won’t be long before that’s underpowered for newer music apps, if it’s not already.

watching what happens with your situation closely, the moog app sealed it for me I was headed the way of the amazon tablet, but if I can't get some easy access with a controller to the app then I will abort my mission. I don't want to do any fancy pantsy wireless halfassless mit
degree shit either I just want to plug something and have it work. what I'm really wanting to do is control the moog app via my mpc/midi
oh how I'm jonesing for this.
re: the gen 1 ipad just for music, is it really underpowered, or were you just thinking out loud, cause I'd love an ipad just for music myself

YES, iODock makes the process easier in terms of audio/MIDI cabling. However, apps that still ONLY rely on wifi (griid, touchAble) will still of course only work over wifi. It's not like the iODock circumvents the coding in those apps.

As I have an iPad 2 I don’t really know what currently will and will not work with the iPad 1 other than Garageband which was known from day 1.
The Kindle Fire isn’t even in the same class as the iPad or even other Android tablets for that matter. The price might be attractive but don’t expect to do anything on it beyond streaming media, reading books, and basic web browsing. And even though it is a variant of Android OS don’t expect it to have music apps on it anytime soon and it’s already well advertised that the few music apps that are available for more powerful Android tablets are shit.

Now my only issue is that even though I pay a premium for Apple products, I’m extremely offended that a basic MIDI/audio interface that can only be used for the iPad and is quite bulky is $200. And you may or may not get the adaptor that makes it work snuggly with the iPad 2. And even then it probably won’t work with my back shell case on it. And it probably won’t work at all with the iPad 3.
