APC40 encoder initialization?
APC40 encoder initialization?
Hey guys,
Can anyone shed some light on this APC40 encoder manual mapping problem. When loading a set with fixed mapping the encoder does not initialize at the parameter value but at zero - making takeover fixes necessary. Any ideas how to make it read the linked parameter and display the led ring appropriately? Could I do this with Max4LIVE?
Cheers

Re: APC40 encoder initialization?
No there are too many things going on mate....
You're best off mapping the encoders to live.dials and then using the midi convention to change the lighting mode....

Re: APC40 encoder initialization?
How disturbing, surely the point of encoders is not to have to use a takover mode, as it can take on the parameter value it is supposed to control and start from there.... helllll....
Re: APC40 encoder initialization?
ah, just found this - frustrating...
"The cue level is the ONLY one that is actually an encoder ... The rest are endless knobs."

Re: APC40 encoder initialization?
btw, Darren, do you know is it possible to retrieve the target of the manual mapping that I fix for the track/device controls' 'endless knobs'...?
Re: APC40 encoder initialization?
What do you mean by manual mapping? As in what they are midi mapped to? or as in what id the live.object is mapped to??

Re: APC40 encoder initialization?
I meant the cmd-m - map mode mapping, as it appears I can retrieve the parameter names assigned by 'blue hand' mapping but not the 'manually' assigned ones...

Re: APC40 encoder initialization?
also - 'blue hand' mappping actually reads the parameter values and adjusts the 'endless knobs', however, the 'manual' mappings do not retrieve the value and use the selected takeover mode, as if the knob wasn't endless...
seems like a design flaw...

Re: APC40 encoder initialization?
No the Midi Mapping isnt available through the API....
When you change banks the midi mapping should update the values though??

Re: APC40 encoder initialization?
hm, I'll try changing the banks, one thing sure when the set loads the MIDI mapped knobs do not read the parameter values....
