PowerMac G5 help with ableton 8.2

Post by persona la ave » Wed Oct 19, 2011 10:16 pm

recently my windows laptop crashed and i lost all of my files

i am now in the market to purchase a cheap Mac

i have been shopping around and am interested in buying a powermac g5 dual 2.0 with powerPC processor

i know it is recommended to use a computer with an Intel processor for ableton live 8.2
but i cannot afford one with the intel processor

what are the drawbacks or problems with running ableton live 8.2 on a powermac g5 2.0 with powerPC processor??

i know most vst plugins will not work without intel processor but i am ok with that

am just wondering if ableton will not work properly or not at all with the g5 powerPC

also it has 4 gbs of ram

other than the processor i believe every spec is up to par for use with ableton live 8.2

i just dont want to purchase this thing and get it to find out that i cant even use it with ableton.

if anyone could shed a little insight on my problem i would be very grateful and less anxious ha

The system requirements on the Suite 8 page claim it'll work.

It won't be as speedy as the newer processors of course, and like you said you have to watch out for plugin compatibility, but I think it'll function.
