haha, i completely understand what you're getting at.. but as a broke university student that barely makes enough to pay the rent (avoiding as much student loans as possible). I try to spend even $50 as best as i could.3dot... wrote:wtf man? just get one already...seriously...

Re: ValhallaRoom vs RP-Verb
maybe you'd get more bang for buck out of an affordable convolution reverb, like Liquidsonics Reverberate ... http://www.liquidsonics.com/software_reverberate.htm
and all the impulse responses you can find on google.
Plus it would double as an amp/cabinet plugin (lots of those IRs found via google too), or any other gear/fx chains you could make custom Impulse Responses out of (or google).
Just a suggestion.
other than that demo VRoom & RP-Verb and let yo ears decide.

Re: ValhallaRoom vs RP-Verb
Demo them both - pretty sure they both have demos available.
You might find vahalla has a more appealing denser sound.

Nothing to see here - move along!

Re: ValhallaRoom vs RP-Verb
I have Breeze and Aether, and to be honest find Breeze getting more use these days just due to the speed you can get the sound you want. Haven't used RP-Verb though, so can't compare the two.
@Locojon - This is an annoying known issue (affecting both aether and breeze) , but easily resolved by using the VST rather than AU version

If $50 is a big deal try some of the better freebies,
http://magnus.smartelectronix.com/#Ambience Reverb
http://kunz.corrupt.ch/products/ Reverbs and Delays
http://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/vst-effects/ Epic Verb and Nasty DLA
http://www.liquidsonics.com/software_reverberate_le.htm Convolution Verb
http://www.vacuumsound.de/plugins.html Plate Reverb
More expensive /= better
Re: ValhallaRoom vs RP-Verb
Aether is one of the best i ever heard. Live´s Reverb is good enough for adding space and creating effects.
Re: ValhallaRoom vs RP-Verb
Valhalla Room is excellent. It is one of the few plugins that I mess with and leave thinking, "well that sounds even better than I expected" rather than "good enough". Terrific value for $50.
One thing to keep in mind with it - the range of sounds Vroom can produce are pretty wide. The different algorithms all have a different character and the depth, pre-delay and high frequency early feedback to late feedback scale controls are powerful. There are tons of presents built in, but I had to do a little tweaking before I found the range of sounds that I really like.
I don't have any experience with RP-Verb to compare it to. I don't like the RP interfaces in general though - kind of hard to read.

After some more testing I've come to the decision to pick up the Valhalla Room. And hopefully the shimmer soon after (So frickin sweet). Thanks for all the advice.

Probably a good idea, simply for the low cost and quality.kanuck wrote:After some more testing I've come to the decision to pick up the Valhalla Room. And hopefully the shimmer soon after (So frickin sweet). Thanks for all the advice.
Press Enter made a good point that reverberate is also pretty cheap. I was going to say that for less than the price of RP-Verb, you could get Reverberate and ValhallaRoom (and also Shimmer for that matter!).
My main ones these days are Aether, ValhallaRoom and Reverberate actually. Live's verb still has it's place too. I've trashed it a fair bit, but on some sources it can be good, especially the eco mode.

Great choice, Valhalla Room is indispensable for me. Remember to pick up the FreqEcho freebie if you haven't already it's greatkanuck wrote:After some more testing I've come to the decision to pick up the Valhalla Room. Re: ValhallaRoom vs RP-Verb
Yeah I'm pumped about that. There are not a lot of great chorus plugs out there. The chorus is Zebra is pretty solid, but I always forget about Zebrify (effects and filters only version of Zebra that comes with it, if you don't know) for some reason.esky wrote:...and this http://www.valhalladsp.com/valhallaubermod is also coming soon...
