Upgraded to 8.2.6 and Lost Project Files??
Upgraded to 8.2.6 and Lost Project Files??
I'm running a Mac OS X 10.5.8, and when I wasn't able to open my friends project files in my Live because my version was out of date, I upgraded to the 8.2.6. I'm not sure if it was then, or if it was from my cat laying on the keyboard, but I can't find ANY of my .als files. When I search for .als files, I only see the 2 my friend was working on, and some OLD ones, that must have been in a different file. I'm assuming an entire file may have been overwritten..not really positive. Maybe I'm totally brainfarting, and just can't find my project files, but I swear I've looked everywhere. I looked in my trash, and there's only 1 file there, so unless it automatically empties itself, or my cat is happening to just hit all of the right keys, it should be here somewhere...if nothing else, is there a way to restore my system to a previous date, like on Windows?
Re: Upgraded to 8.2.6 and Lost Project Files??
Anybody have any ideas? I'm running a recovery program, but it isn't finding any .als files yet. My trash can empties "securely", but I can't see it all just getting deleted permanently without emptying the trash also. It makes me think I must have overwrote the file when I upgraded...but honestly it just doesn't make any sense to me. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Upgraded to 8.2.6 and Lost Project Files??
When you install a new release it installs into it's own folder
i.e. there is an 8.2.6
and a folder for whatever versions you may have installed as well, so nothing should have been overwritten.

Re: Upgraded to 8.2.6 and Lost Project Files??
That's what I figured...it is just really strange of all things, that one file of projects would get deleted(at least I believe it was just one file...I always opened "recent projects" directly from the Live menu, and now they are all grayed out) I manually searched every file I could think of, and searched for .als files...nothing except OLD projects that were likely in a different file. Such a bummer.subsynth wrote:When you install a new release it installs into it's own folder
