heh, fair enough.
Just pointing out how lame it is for beta/alpha testers to make suggestions of what they'd like to see in the next version, already knowing that it's there. or not.

It was incredibly useful for me when DJing, something I relied on all the time for planning transitions and the like. I don't care if it scaled to the current tempo, just knowing how long the original unwrapped audio was worked fine for me as more often than not I'd be adjust the global tempo to match the songs over the course of a transition, garyboozy wrote:but 7's timeline never changed to reflect the warped file's time. it was pretty much useless with warped files where the tempo was different, so i never really saw the problem of it not being there in 8. if your audio isnt warped, the timeline is still there in 8. unless i'm missing something here..Tarekith wrote:In Live 7 and before, there was a timeline ruler at the bottom of every clip in the Clip Pane, so you could see how long the overall clip was, and identify how long sections of the the song were

Generally when Im beta testing a product and a closed test group, I'll general;ly stay out of threads like this - to me even just posting wishes for features that may or may not be included is treading way too close to the line.
As many of the usual suspects are posting then Im guessing there isnt a closed beta active at this time (or at least not one involving some key people in these forums) - Time to watch is when a bunch of people suddenly go quiet in such threads

Nothing to see here - move along!

ahh, that makes sense. i'm all for having the timeline back in Live 9, but i guess it would have to adjust to the global tempo for it to not just look like a u-turn/reinstated feature.Tarekith wrote:I'd be adjust the global tempo to match the songs over the course of a transition,
Re: What feature in live 9 would be a game changer for you
Live 9 press releases that are devoid of the terms "game changer" and "paradigm shift" would probably do it for me.

Scratch live, itch and traktor as a vst. Eff the bridge! I try to perform my beats, but alway gotta deal with the 512 buffer size. end up having to freeze and flatten to use it.
I'm a turntablist trying to take advantage of the skills with ableton, but not as great as I had imagined.
I have torq and it worked like a dream, but no ability to use with turntables, only the xponent. No Bueno
Also the share feature would be cool.

And I'm guessing it'd make more sense and be easier in 8 as you move/warp the audio on a straight timeline rather than stretching the timeline as per 7 or previous!

same here for ADC, PDC Fixed (let's say implemented) including Automations, modulations, and clocks compensation.
better midi implementation.
and of course 1rst is the :;n! AUTOMATTION to SESSION. That would be the real game changer.

As long as it's not a 'now you see it, now you don't' share feature. Also the share feature would be cool.

When it was up and running, it was really cool. I would welcome it back with open arms.

I would love a tight 'link two instances of Live from two computers' hook up . A fairly seamless connection that would allow users to take advantage of having CPU power available from multiple boxes.
Re: What feature in live 9 would be a game changer for you
Without reading all the posts; sidechain and lfo modulate everything, aka fully modular routings.
And ofcouce, the forum crown jewel: record automation to session.

Re: What feature in live 9 would be a game changer for you
The 'game' for me is ultimately producing music.
Having used Live/Logic/Cubase (3 pretty different DAWs) in previous years never REALLY changed the quality of the music I produced (that has depended on inspiration, skills and synths far more than DAW features) my answer to the OP's question is - nothing.

Yep, I also think the interface is what make Live cool right now. I would not like to see it updated for the worst.
Re: What feature in live 9 would be a game changer for you
VST3 to make VST3/AU work like live native plugins, else you can side chain already - just route the key track to the side chain inputs on the compressor or whatever you are keying.hps909 wrote: vst 3 support.. or make vst's sidechainable..
cool pays to learn key commands aye

that only works if your plug ins actually have a key input ..a lot don't... but can still be sidechained with vst 3
