8.2.6 update?
8.2.6 update?
Hi,
Sorry if this is reposted somewhere else but I couldn't find a similar thread.
I'm curious to know what the general thoughts on the 8.2.6 update are. Are people happy with it? I rarely get crashes in 8.2.2 so I'm trying to decide whether to update.
Also, does it install alongside 8.2.2 or will it overwrite it?
Thanks

Simply put: if 8.2.2 runs fine for you, don't change.
But check the release notes for 8.2.5, there were a lot of changes to that version.
8.2.6 is running solid for me.
Updates will always be alongside previous version, so you can always work "in parallel".

Re: 8.2.6 update?
8.2.2 was very stable for me. Only typ of crash I got was from breaking the ram use limit of 32 it XP: around 1.8gb. I keep the ram use counter open at all times on a second screen to help avoid the frequent crashes.
But im getting all kinds of new crashes with 8.2.6, on the exact same setup. Basic stuf like copying tracks, or when draging files to or from the browser, etc.

As far as I know, it's possible both on Mac and Windows (on Mac I'm sure!) to install both versions separately so you can test for yourself!
Mac Studio M2 Max and MacBook Pro M4
Genelec M030; Live 12 latest and beta; macOS 27 Golden Gate
UAD Apollo Twin
Ableton Push 2

8.2.6 has a different MIDI timing algorithm when you are using external sync, so if you do that often, it's definitely worth a try.
Re: 8.2.6 update?
That's so weird - at first, I installed 8.2.6. on my XP setup (32 bit, 4 GB RAM), and it seemed buggy as a beehive. Against my better judgement, Novation support(!) convinced me to install it on my laptop, which runs Windows 7 64 bit, with 8 GB RAM, and it seems more or less rock solid. No problems at all since I started using it.ze2be wrote:8.2.2 was very stable for me. Only typ of crash I got was from breaking the ram use limit of 32 it XP: around 1.8gb. Is XP slowly dying? (I mean, in Apple years, XP is about as lively as a dodo.)

Re: 8.2.6 update?
I might get 8.2.2 again to try it, because in between 8.2.6 and .7b1 I get Out of Memory crashes. It may be fine after opening again in the other version, then when that crashes, it may open fine in the other version, but swapping back and forth between versions isn't always consistent.
