every once in a while someone asks about the cheapest way to get into a decent orchestral library.

I was in the first one they did (just for pop/rock strings) and they are quite good, far better than anything else in the low end.
And high-end libraries are included in this group buy as well.
If enough people join you could get some of their products for as much as 75% off. Only 300 people are needed to get to that level, so it will probably get there.
(this would put something like pop/rock strings, which lists for $249, for as little as $63! The full concert strings II for as
little as $199, the full concert brass II for as little as $99, plus there are solo strings & whole orchestra options available at the

I have only used pop/rock strings, but I can definitely say that if you've been settling for one of the lower-end no-brainer orchestras like miroslav CE or garritan pocket orchestra, you owe it to yourself to jump into at least pop/rock strings. Note that PRS works with kontakt player, so nothing more is required; the higher-end libraries require kontakt 4 or above. The brass library is a ridiculous deal as well... something like 45 GB of brass samples for as little as $100.

I love Kirk's Pop/Rock Strings, use it a lot. top quality and the the TCEV 3 update makes it even more versatile. easier to use now too

I just wanted to add again, if you're looking for a decent low-cost strings library, you owe it to yourself to check out this group buy, especially pop/rock strings, which is under $100 right now (and could go as low as $62.50). Not very often that you can get any kind of decent strings for this cheap.
