external synth midi notes wont playback

I an running live 8.1 with a m audio 410 as my interface with a ms 2000 plugged in and it works fine as far as midi notes. I also have a xstation as a controller with a jp 8080 plugged into midi. Problem is I can hear the jp when I play the keyboard, when I record it does record the notes but when I play back, jp does not produce sound. My inputs and outputs are set properly and my midi channels are right. I just can't seem to get around this. Please help!

Check if Lives per channel monitoring setting is right. I think for external signals, it has to be "On".

Did you try using the "External Instrument" Device? I found that one quite handy...
